ASSISTANT Academy Director Edd Vahid is leaving Southampton after eight seasons to join the Premier League.
Vahid joined the south coast club in November 2014, having previously worked for the English Institute of Sport for three-and-a-half years.
Since October 2021 he has been Assistant Academy Director for Saints, responsible for leading a cultural review of the Academy, overseeing projects, updating success markers and developing the player audit process.
Writing on LinkedIn, Vahid said: “Last week drew to a close my time at Southampton following eight memorable seasons. I have had the privilege to work with some incredibly dedicated and skilful colleagues, talented young players and supportive parents.
“Collectively, I am confident we have made a difference and positively impacted the lives of many young people. I wish the club every success for the future, whilst excitedly looking forward to the challenges and opportunities afforded by a new role at the Premier League.”
Vahid will take a role in Youth Operations at the Premier League, reporting into Director of Football Neil Saunders. Director of Coaching Marc Canham left the organisation earlier this summer to become Director of Football for the Football Association of Ireland.
Southampton placed fifth in TGG's Academy Productivity Rankings for 2020/21.
