A quartet of long-standing staff have left Burnley’s Academy, while former Everton Head of Coaching Sean Lundon has arrived at the club as a Youth Development Phase coach.
The departures are:
- Jon Townson (Under-18s assistant). Had been with the Clarets for six-and-a-half years after joining from Accrington Stanley in July 2015. Has been appointed U16s lead at nearby Blackburn Rovers.
- Steve Carlin (Youth Development Phase Lead). Exits after five-and-a-half years. Was previously Academy coach at Carlisle. Writing on LinkedIn, Carlin said: “I have made the hard decision to leave my position at Burnley to pursue an exciting role as husband and dad. Looking forward to spending some fantastic family time and seeing my two special girls grow up."
- Anthony Reedy (Head of Academy Medicine). Joined Burnley from Blackburn in September 2013 and has now started as first-team physio at Wigan Athletic.
- Adam Yates (Lead Academy Sport Scientist). Recently appointed as first-team Strength and Conditioning Coach at Sheffield Wednesday following six-and-a-half years with the Clarets.
Meanwhile, former Everton Head of Coaching Sean Lundon has been appointed as a YDP coach at the Clarets. The Uefa Pro Licence holder worked for the Toffees for 21 years before leaving in February.
He had a short spell at Guangzhou Evergrande in China before returning to the UK last month.
Burnley's Category One Academy has undergone big changes since the takeover of the club by ALK Capital last December. Paul Jenkins replaced Jon Pepper as Academy Manager in September.
Mike Jackson, who was assistant and then manager at Tranmere Rovers last season, has been interim U23s coach since the start of the season and is assisted by Andy Farrell.
Jackson replaced Steve Stone, who moved up to work with the first team.
