HEAD OF PERFORMANCE Bruno Mendes is one of five staff to have left Everton along with sacked manager Marco Silva, TGG understands.

Mendes was previously with Benfica for 17 years. Now he has lasted just 17 months at Everton. The Portuguese was lured away from Benfica in July 2018 to work with countryman Silva and arrived with a stellar reputation, having set up the famed Benfica Lab in 2006.

He made some big decisions, including sacking the long-standing Head of Rehab Matt Taberner, who had been with the club for six years, in July this year.

Silva was sacked tonight following the Toffees' 5-2 defeat by an under-strength Liverpool side in the Merseyside derby, which sent them tumbling into the relegation zone.

Five of Silva's other assistants have gone too - assistant Luis Boa Morte; first team coach Goncalo Pedro; goalkeeping coach Hugo Oliveira and analyst Antonis Lemonakis.
