HEAD OF REHAB Matt Taberner has been sacked by Everton after six years at the club.

The decision follows a summer review of the department by Head of Performance Bruno Mendes, which also saw Director of Medical Dr Aboul Shaheir replaced.

Mendes succeeded Ryland Morgans as Head of Performance last summer, having previously worked for Benfica for 15 years. He set up their respected Benfica Lab in 2006.

Taberner joined Everton in September 2013 from Aston Villa, where he had worked in their Academy for six years. He was initially assistant sports scientist for the Toffees, before being promoted to Head of Sport Science in June 2014 and Head of Rehab in July 2017.
