Head Physio Sadler leaves Manchester United as medical revamp begins

HEAD PHYSIO Robin Sadler has left Manchester United after three years as part of a restructure led by new Head of Sports Medicine Gary O’Driscoll.
Sadler joined United in January 2021 from Derby County and his full title was Head of Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. At the time, the Reds said this was “a new position” and would involve overseeing “service provision for first team, Academy and Women’s teams.”
However, following an audit of the medical department by O’Driscoll, Sadler has now departed. O’Driscoll arrived at United in September last year following 15 years at Arsenal and his appointment was regarded as a major coup.
His remit was to make changes if necessary and there are more are to come, TGG understands. Sadler’s exit was decided prior to the arrival of new minority shareholders INEOS, who will be taking a leading role on the football side of the business at United, although it is said to be in line with their aims of driving performance and improving outcomes.
Following Sadler’s exit, Ibrahim Kerem has moved across from the women’s team to work with Erik ten Hag’s men’s side. Kerem joined United in October 2021 from Blackburn Rovers, where he was a Rehab Physio.
United declined to comment on the story when contacted by TGG.
