Tottenham are advertising for five key roles as they look to build world-class scouting and insights departments.

The club is embarking on a new era with new staff heading up the football operation. Scott Munn arrived from City Football Group to become Chief Football Officer in April 2023 and Johan Lange followed in November as Technical Director.

The Dane is responsible for recruitment, analytics and talent identification across senior and Academy teams. He was previously the Sporting Director and then Global Director of Football Development at Aston Villa and brought two key staff with him from the Midlands.

The first was compatriot Frederik Leth, with whom he had also worked at FC Copenhagen. Leth’s title at Tottenham is Head of Football Insights and Strategy and he heads up the new Football Insights Department, which provides data-derived insights that impact decision-making across departments. Tottenham’s data science provision was previously limited.

The other person Lange brought in with him from Villa was Rob Mackenzie, who was Head of Recruitment there for more than three years before becoming Head of Scouting at Tottenham. Mackenzie manages a team of scouts who look for players with the profiles to fit the club’s game model.

At Villa, the trio helped build a squad that is on the brink of Champions League qualification for the first time.
