Steinsson and Scoulding join Tottenham as Paratici revamp continues

FORMER Everton Head of Recruitment Gretar Steinsson has been appointed Performance Director at Tottenham, with Rangers Head of Scouting Andy Scoulding as Assistant.
Both men will report into Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici in a revamped football leadership division.
The Italian has instigated major changes since the turn of the year. In February, Technical Performance Director Steve Hitchen exited the club after five years and in May Head of Recruitment Brian Carey followed after six years’ service.
Steinsson will essentially be Paratici’s number two and his role will be similar to that of Hitchen’s, which was to focus on “building capabilities to support a world-class football infrastructure across senior and youth teams”, in terms of both title and remit.
The Icelander is a former Premier League footballer who was Technical Director at Fleetwood Town before becoming Head of Recruitment and Development at Everton in October 2019.
He followed Director of Football Marcel Brands through the exit door last December following a power struggle behind the scenes with manager Rafa Benitez.
Scoulding, whose title will be Assistant Performance Director, has been Head of Scouting at Rangers since September 2017. His background is in analysis and he was England Men’s Performance Analysis during four years with the Football Association from 2012 to 2016.
Paratici, 49, officially started work with Tottenham on July 1st 2021 after 11 years with Juventus and is “responsible for managing and developing the club’s sporting operations, facilities and footballing infrastructure.”
That remit spans the whole football department, including recruitment, medical, performance, coaching, Academy, analysis and data science. Steinsson and Scoulding will now be there to assist with that huge workload, although their exact areas of responsibility are still to be worked out.
