FORMER Sunderland manager Jack Ross has been appointed Head of Coach Development at Newcastle United.
Ross had been doing the job on an interim basis since April, but has now been given it on a permanent basis. The job involves overusing application of the Academy playing and coaching philosophy and Coach Competency Framework.
Ross has overall responsibility for the management and organisation of coach development across all Academy age groups – up to and including the Under-21 squad.
He works closely with Newcastle Academy Director Steve Harper and U21s boss and Methodology Lead Neil Winskill. Ross was born in Falkirk and made more than 300 league appearances as a player in Scotland, as well as spending time at Hartlepool United.
As a coach, he has overseen almost 300 senior games at clubs including Alloa Athletic, St Mirren, Sunderland, Hibernian and Dundee United.
