QPR Head of Performance John Phillips is leaving full-time club football after 18 consecutive seasons.
Phillips has worked for the Football Association, Southampton, Malmo in Sweden, Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and the Taiwan national team and joined QPR in September 2012.
He was initially Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine at Loftus Road, before working his way up to first team Head of Sports Science and then Head of Performance.
He told TGG: “I’ve been lucky to work with some of the best players in the world, such as Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain and Fabio Cannavaro. I’ve also been lucky to work with some great managers and have learnt a lot throughout my time around the world.
"I've decided to change they way I value certain things in life and to put my wife, kids, family and friends first.
"Thanks to everyone at QPR for a rollercoaster seven years. There have been plenty of highs and lows but lots and lots of good memories and friends made along the way.”
He has now set up two companies: JP Performance, which works globally with different organisations and athletes; and K3 Performance, which offers holistic elite training.
