PHYSIO Paulo Barreira has left Arsenal at the end of his two-year contract with the club.
The Portuguese practitioner was brought into the club as part of a medical revamp carried out by former Head of Performance Darren Burgess. The duo - along with Arsenal's senior physio, Chris Morgan - had worked together at Liverpool.
On Saturday, Barreira tweeted: “Thank you Arsenal for the great experience that was working at the club. Class to say the least to describe such a club.
“To the medical/performance staff, coaching staff, facilities managements staff, and all the players I wish all the best. COYG.”
Former Liverpool midfielder Luca Leiva was among those to respond, tweeting: “Great friend and one of the best physio’s I have worked with. Good luck amigo.”
Morgan wrote: “Good luck Paulo Barreira - a pleasure to work alongside you again for these last two years at Arsenal after our time together at Liverpool. A genuine academic life-long learner combined with extensive and proven delivery across leagues/clubs/countries. Until next time mate.”
And Burgess tweeted: “Superb practitioner and person.. Good luck Paulo.”
There are set to be further changes to Arsenal's medical department at the end of the season.
