NOTTINGHAM FOREST have sacked their Sporting Director, Filippo Giraldi, after just six months in post.

The Italian was brought in by the club at the start of October, even though Forest already had a Director of Football in Kiriakos Dourekas, who has remained in place.

In a three-line statement on their official website this afternoon, Forest revealed that Giraldi had been “relieved of his duties with immediate effect” and "leaves the club amicably with our best wishes.”

The statement added that “Filippo would like to place on record his thanks to the club and wishes Nottingham Forest best of luck for the future”, although there was no reciprocal declaration of thanks from the club.

Giraldi previously spent nine years with Watford, starting as their Chief Scout in 2012, before becoming Technical Director in 2014.

During that time the Hornets had five consecutive years in the top flight, achieved their highest points total in the Premier League in 2018/19 and reaching the 2019 FA Cup Final.

However, the Italian took a large portion of the blame for Watford’s relegation from the Premier League in 2019/20 and departed following their 3-2 win over Stoke on November 4th 2020.

Giraldi had previously spent 11 years in Italy as Director of Football at AC Prato and as Chief Scout and Head of Academy at Brescia.
