Danny Murphy: Was Head Physio at Newcastle until January this year

Former Newcastle United Head Physio Danny Murphy has been appointed Head of Medical at Luton Town as the Hatters implement a major revamp of their backroom staff for 2024/25.

Murphy left Newcastle in January this year after 15 months. He has also worked for Charlton Athletic, England Under-21s, West Ham, Crystal Palace and as a consultant for an individual player in La Liga.

At Luton he replaces club stalwart Simon Parsell, who, in his 15th campaign with the Hatters, takes on the new role of Medical Co-Ordinator.

Chris Phillips, who is entering his eighth season with the club, has been promoted from Senior Physio to Head Physio, with Ollie Sharples moving up from the Academy to become First Team Physio.

In coaching, former Hatters midfielder Kevin Foley has made the step up from Transition Coach, which he held last season, to become First Team Coach.

Set Piece Coach Alan McCormack has left to become First Team Coach at Leyton Orient, while Coach-Analyst Andrew Findlay has departed after a session and will continue in his position as Performance Analyst for the Norwegian FA.

In performance, Josh Hornby has arrived from Charlton Athletic, where he had worked for 12 years, to become Head of Sports Science. He has effectively done a job swap with Luke Sanders, who has moved in the opposite direction to become Head of Sport Science at Charlton after seven years with Luton.

Lead Strength and Power Coach Elliott Plant has also exited, after seven years.

In analysis, Joe Stephenson arrives at Kenilworth Road as First Team Analyst, having spent the last two seasons as Middlesbrough’s Opposition Analyst. And Chloe Golding joins as Performance Analysis Assistant, having spent last season on an intern with Southampton.
