Medics depart Stoke after 50 years of combined service

HEAD PHYSIO Dave Watson and Head of Medicine Dr Andrew Dent are leaving Stoke City after almost 50 years' combined service.

Watson has been with the Potters since 2002 and was appointed Head Physio in the summer of 2003. Dent has been club doctor since 1990 and also worked for the England youth teams (Under-18s, U20s and U21s) from 1993 to 2005, while being a GP for 25 years.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, the duo have been offered roles within the wider Bet365 group, which owns Stoke City.

Charlie Adam recalled recently: “What kept me going (after my dad died) was the fact that I had a family, my mum, brothers, my sister was still here and I had a great wife who supported me every day.

“And the physio at Stoke, Dave Watson, was incredible. He got me to meet people, to go and speak to people, psychologists. It was people like that who kept me going and were there for me.

“Players can help too but as a physio he was amazing for me. He got me the right work, the right people and I really appreciate that."

Dent has worked under 16 different managers at two different stadiums for Stoke.

TGG understands that Stoke have brought in former Wasps and Sale Sharks Head Physio Doug Jones to carry out a review of their medical department on a consultancy basis.
