JAMES McCARRON is leaving the Premier League after a year to become Head of Sports Science and Medicine for Manchester City Ladies.
McCarron was appointed as the Premier League’s first Elite Performance Manager last November to “support their mission of developing more and better homegrown players”.
Prior to this he was Head of Academy Performance at Sunderland and has also worked for Worcestershire County Cricket and Gloucester Rugby. The Premier League are now advertising for a replacement to report into Head of Elite Performance Andy O’Boyle.
At City, McCarron will work with both the women’s first team and Academy, and his appointment shows how seriously the club is focussing on its women’s section.
