Matthews is currently a Senior Coach Developer at the Football Association

MICK MATTHEWS is leaving the Football Association after 26 years to take up the new role of Academy Coach Development Manager at Manchester United.

The role will be “focused entirely on developing the Academy’s coaching workforce across all areas of the programme, assessing current staff’s competencies and developing methods to support them to develop and ensure United maintains our standards of world-class coaching.”

Matthews is a Senior Coach Developer at the FA. He holds UEFA Pro Licence, an MSC in Coach Development and has tutored the UEFA A Licence in the past. He had a lengthy career as a player, most notably for Wolves and Hull City, and will start with United on November 1st.
