VINCENT KOMPANY has named his backroom staff at Burnley, with Craig Bellamy among those to have moved with him from Anderlecht to Turf Moor.

Bellamy, 42, played alongside Kompany for Manchester City and also won 78 caps for Wales. His first coaching role was at Cardiff City, as Under-18s lead, but he stepped down from the position in January 2019 pending a club investigation into a bullying claim.

The former striker denied the allegations and in June 2019 was named U21 coach of Anderlecht, later becoming Kompany's assistant. Cardiff's investigation into the bullying claims against Bellamy and others had highlighted "a number of significant concerns" and concluded that Academy players faced an "unacceptable coaching environment".

The other new members of Kompany’s backroom staff are:

  • Jelle ten Rouwelaar (Goalkeeping Coach): Spent nine years as first-choice keeper at Dutch side NAC Breda before becoming goalkeeper coach under Kompany at Anderlecht.
  • Floribert Ngalula (First-Team Coach): Represented Manchester United at youth level and played professionally in Denmark, Holland, Israel, America, Finland and Germany. The 35-year-old worked alongside Kompany at Anderlecht.
  • Richard Bredice (Lead First Team Performance Analyst & Set-Piece Coach): Was first-team opposition analyst at Manchester City between 2013 to 2019, which is where he worked with Kompany the player. Moved with the Belgian to Anderlecht when he was named player-coach at the start of 2019/20. Did this interview with TGG in October 2021 explaining his role.
  • Bram Geers (Performance Coach): Physical Performance Coach and Analyst at Anderlecht for almost five years, including three years alongside Kompany.

Kompany said: “I am delighted Craig, Jelle, Bram, Floribert and Richard have all agreed to join and play an integral role in helping to develop the players and build a successful team at Burnley.

“I have worked with all five men before and I know the qualities and experience they will bring to the club. We already have an excellent group of staff at the club and collectively we are excited to work together as we prepare for the new season.”
