FORMER Southampton Director of Performance Mark Jarvis has been appointed as England’s new Head of Performance as Gareth Southgate finalises his staff ahead of next summer’s Euros.
Jarvis was Director of Performance Support for Southampton for five years before being made redundant by owners Sport Republic in May this year.
Prior to this he had been Director of Performance Support for the English Institute of Sport and Performance Lead for GB Rowing in the run-up to the 2020 Olympics.
England have been revamping their performance and medical departments following the exits of GM of Performance Bryce Cavanagh and Performance Lead Ben Rosenblatt earlier this year. Cavanagh left to join Chelsea as Director of Performance, while Rosenblatt has set up his own consultancy.
Following the departures, Steve Kemp has been promoted from Head Physio to Head of Physical Performance, Medicine and Nutrition, while Chris Jones has come in as a fitness coach to the end of Euro 2024.
Jones had previously worked with England Assistant Steve Holland at Chelsea and was Frank Lampard's Assistant at Derby, Chelsea and Everton.
The Football Association advertised the Men’s Head of Performance role in the summer, with a remit to “create, facilitate and project manage the performance plan around major tournaments for the England Senior Men's team.”
