Danny Murphy: Replaced the long-serving Derek Wright as Head Physio

NEWCASTLE UNITED Head Physio Danny Murphy has left the club after 15 months.

In a statement, the Magpies said Murphy had departed “after an extended period of paternity leave.”

“The club would like to thank Danny for his hard work, professionalism and development of the service during his 15 months with the first team, during which he has made a significant contribution to the club's success,” the statement added.

“We wish him and his family well for the future.”

Murphy joined from Charlton Athletic in October 2022, replacing Derek Wright, who had stepped down after a phenomenal 38-year career with the Toon.

Murphy has also worked with England Under-21s, La Liga, West Ham and Crystal Palace. Newcastle’s medical department is headed up by Dr Paul Catterson and includes Senior Physio Nathan Ring, Physio Dani Marti and Head of Rehab Sean Beech.
