CRYSTAL PALACE Head Physio Chris Morgan has left the club after 16 months to pursue a “new challenge in the North”.

Morgan, who was previously Liverpool physio for three years, joined the Eagles in January 2017. He hasn’t said where he is going now although Steven Gerrard, with whom he worked at Liverpool, is keen to take him to Rangers.

“I will look back on my two seasons at the club with nothing but pride, enjoyment and laughter,” Morgan wrote on Instagram.

“At Palace I was lucky to work with an incredible group of staff who put the club first and reflected the values of it in so many ways. Most importantly, the staff and players used the pressure of a relegation threat to work even closer together, to support each other and to still enjoy work.

“I am sure they will continue to grow under the leadership of Steve and Roy. Finally thank you to the players who welcomed me from day one and helped my make time in SE London so memorable. I hope they felt that I always gave them 100%.”

Club doctor Dr Zaf Iqbal, who also worked with Morgan at Liverpool, tweeted: “Although a fantastic end to the season, I’m sure I speak for all the players and medical staff that we are gutted to be losing Chris Morgan, who has decided to return up North for another challenge.

“Was lucky to work with him again at [Palace] to help us out. All the best and thank you.”
