PHYSIO Michael Harding has joined Robbie Fowler at East Bengal in the Indian Super League after leaving Newcastle United after 14 years.
Harding and soft tissue therapist Wayne Farrage were placed on gardening leave by Newcastle last month pending the outcome of an internal investigation. The reasons for the investigation have not been disclosed by the club or the individuals concerned.
Harding had been with the club since 2006 and was also a director at the Osborne Clinic in Jesmond, along with Newcastle’s long-serving Head Physio Derek Wright.
He joins a strong English contingent at East Bengal. Fowler's assistant there will be former Manchester City midfielder Tony Grant, who worked alongside the ex-England and Liverpool striker at Brisbane Roar.
Former Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips is set-piece coach; Bobby Mimms, ex of Hull City and Bolton, is goalkeeper coach; and Jack Inman, who has worked with Bury and Macclesfeld, is sports scientist.
