RICHARD GARLICK is leaving the Premier League "in the coming months" to become Director of Football Operations at Arsenal.

The qualified solicitor replaces Huss Fahmy, who left the Gunners last October after three years in post. Arsenal said Garlick’s responsibilities would include "football operations in the first team and Academy, all player contract management and relationships with football's governing bodies."

Garlick worked for West Brom for eight years - mainly as Director of Football Administration - before being appointed Director of Football at the Premier League in April 2018.

His duties with them were overseeing "primary football administration functions”, namely football operations, football relations, youth development, coaching and young player education.

Arsenal said Garlick would be "a member of the Arsenal executive team" and work closely with Technical Director Edu, manager Mikel Arteta and Academy Manager Per Mertesacker.

Last September, Arsenal Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham said he was looking to make the club “quicker, faster, more efficient and better” in its operations.
