MIKE CAVE is leaving Fulham after almost nine years to become the Assistant Technical Director at Brighton.

He will officially join the South Coast club next month, TGG understands, after completing his notice period with Fulham. At Brighton he will assist David Weir, who was appointed Technical Director in May after a period performing the role on an interim basis.

The Seagulls are one of a small number of clubs to have an Assistant Technical Director, along with Bournemouth, Manchester United and Norwich,. This is recognition of the heavy workload that the Technical Director has.

Cave has a strong pedigree in youth development. He joined Fulham in 2014 as Academy Performance Manager, having previously worked in senior sales positions for IMG, the producer and distributor of sports programmes.

Promotions followed to Head of Player Development, Academy Manager, and then to Academy Director in August last year.
