FORMER Cambridge United Head of Performance Matt Walker has been appointed Head of Athletic Development for the Professional Development Phase (17s to 23s) at Manchester United.

Walker left Cambridge after a decade in April. At the time, Sporting Director Ben Strang said: "Matt has led our sport science provision and managed the performance department, overseeing sports science, medical and analysis.

“He has done an exceptional job at driving the football club on, across these disciplines. Matt’s attention to detail, organisational qualities and level of professionalism, as well as his empathetic yet challenging nature with the players, is what makes him a tremendous character.”

In August 2020 he did this article with TGG about how the club had coped during the Covid-19 pandemic. Fitness coach Mark Hulse had been working with the PDP phase at United before leaving the club for a new challenge in January.
