Arsenal have changed Academy Youth Scouting to Talent ID

ARSENAL have made a trio of appointments to their new Talent ID department, including Wolves Senior Academy Scout Phil Antwi.

The Talent TD department, previously known as Youth Scouting, was revamped by Arsenal Academy Manager Per Mertesacker at the end of last year, leading to a change of focus and staffing.

Antwi, who has been Senior Academy Scout at Molineux for the last 19 months, will now be lead scout for Arsenal's Under-12s to U14s.

Prior to Wolves, Antwi worked at Reading for eight years and was latterly Head of Academy Recruitment, working closely with Lee Herron, who was Academy Manager for the Royals and now heads up Talent ID at Arsenal.

In addition to Antwi, Arsenal have hired Conan Watson from the Football Association, where he was part of the Player Insights team, as lead scout for the U15s/ 16s. Ayo Durojaiye has been promoted from youth Academy scout to become lead scout for the U9s to U11s.

As TGG reported at the start of the month, Steve Brown, previously the Head of Coaching at MK Dons, has been appointed Lead Talent ID Co-ordinator by the Gunners and Yousuf Sajjad has become Emerging Talent Co-ordinator for the U17s to U23s.

In November 2019, Arenal's Head of Youth Scouting Steve Morrow, who had been on the staff for 11 years, was sacked, along with Dave Lee, Kevin Beddell , Dan Rice and Joe Sutton.
