JIM HENRY has been appointed Head of Athletic Performance and Sport Science by Stoke City following the appointment of Paul Lambert as manager last week.
The Scot, who has worked in football for 22 years, was Head of Performance at Celtic during Lambert’s eight years there as a player. He replaces Stoke's previous Head of Sport Science, Damian Roden, who left for the Seattle Sounders earlier this month.
Henry joins from League One Bury, where he was Head of Performance and Sport Science,
The former Scotland judo international is renowned as a hard taskmaster and has said: "The technology at the very top of football has changed dramatically but the need for work rate has never changed."
Meanwhile, Stuart Taylor has joined as first-team coach from Aston Villa, where he was Under-21 coach and had worked with Lambert. Coaches Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki have gone, following Mark Hughes' sacking as manager earlier this month, but Kevin Russell and Andy Quy remain in the first-team set-up.
Russell stepped up from the Under-18s this season, while Quy has been at the club for more than a decade.
