West Ham Academy Manager Westley goes part-time

WEST HAM Academy Manager Terry Westley has moved into a part-time role at the club that will focus on football development programmes.
The Academy is now effectively being run by Operations and Player Development Manager Ricky Martin, who was appointed three weeks ago. Westley, who was Academy Manager at Birmingham City under current Hammers' owners David Gold and David Sullivan, was appointed in July 2014.
He took over from the legendary Tony Carr, who had overseen the development of players including Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. Carr was moved into an ambassadorial role before leaving the club for good in 2016 following 43 years' service.
Westley will now be spending time away from day-to-day duties at Chadwell Heath in order to work on Academy and football development programmes and opportunities around the globe, TGG understands. He is in regular contact with Martin, who spent seven years as Academy Manager at Norwich.
An insider said that Westley remained committed to his role with the club and was "happy and comfortable" with his change in role. There have been reports that he will leave at the end of the season, but West Ham deny this is the case.
Westley, a former manager of Luton and Derby, was Head of Professional Development at the Premier League before moving to the Hammers.
