WATFORD Academy Manager Richard Thomas has left the club with immediate effect after two years in post.
The Hornets initially refused to comment on the departure when contacted by TGG, but later released a statement saying: "Watford FC can confirm that Richard Thomas has left his role as Academy Manager.
"During Richard’s time at the club, he was fully committed to developing the Academy and making the necessary improvements to meet EPPP requirements. Richard always operated with professionalism and integrity, and we would like to wish him all the best moving forward."
Head of Coaching Barry Quin has taken temporary charge of the Category Two Academy until a permanent appointment is made.
Thomas replaced Darren Sarll, who had been suspended following allegations of bullying, in April 2019. His last job had been as manager of Northern Premier League side Grantham Town and he had also been assistant manager of Notts County, as well as Academy Manager at Leyton Orient for six-and-a-half years.
Notts County’s manager at the time, Kevin Nolan, described Thomas as "one of the best coaches I've worked with."
