Shaw steps down as Crystal Palace U23 boss
Shaw has worked at the Palace Academy for almost six years

RICHARD SHAW has left his role as Crystal Palace Under-23 boss to “pursue other opportunities”.
The 51-year-old, who made 207 appearances for the Eagles as a player, returned to Selhurst Park in February 2014 as U16s coach. He was then moved up to the U23s in September 2016.
”I've enjoyed my time at Palace but now it’s time to explore other exciting coaching opportunities,” Shaw said.
In a statement, Palace said they “would like to thank Richard for his contribution and wish him every success in his future career”.
Another former player, Shaun Derry, has taken charge of the Eagles U23s for the last three games. He returned to the club in September as Professional Development Phase coach.
There have been a number of changes at Palace's Category 2 Academy since the end of last season. In July, they appointed Dean Wilkins as Head of Coaching, Sam Higgins as Head of Sports Science and Michael Kamara as U10s lead and Head of Player/ Parent Communications.
