JIMMY SHAN has ended his 13-year association with West Brom to pursue his managerial ambitions.
The 40-year-old, who took caretaker charge of the Baggies on March 10th this year, has departed following the appointment of Slaven Bilic as manager.
The Croat has appointed two of his countrymen - Dean Racunica and Danilo Butorovic - as his assistants, although the club said Shan would stay on as first-team coach.
However, he has decided to move to pastures new, ending a remarkable personal journey at The Hawthorns. Shan joined in 2006 as Under-7s coach, having previously worked at Birmingham City’s Academy.
He rose through the ranks, going from the U7s to U11s, U18s, U23s and eventually the first team. After his departure was announced by the club, Shan released a short statement reading: “I will miss the Albion family, I have made so many life friends in my time, the club will always have a special place in my heart.
“I’ll never forget that magical play-off atmosphere standing proud on the touch-line. Thank you all for your kind messages of support.
“To all the staff, players and fans - keep Boinging! Get behind Slav and the team.”
Chief executive Mark Jenkins said: ”We are sorry to see Jimmy leave. He leaves with our blessing and we have no doubt that he will soon be in work elsewhere.
"We will enjoy watching his progress as a coach from afar and I look forward to our paths crossing again in the future. We wish Jimmy and his family all the very best."
