ALEX CLAPHAM has left his role as Southampton set-piece coach after three months due to personal reasons.

The 33-year-old was first-team coach at Notts County last season and has also worked at Ytterhogdals IK in Sweden, Getafe in Spain and Sheffield United and Manchester City in England. The Pro Licence coach is also founder of the Cano Football account.

He joined Southampton as part of a new-look first-team coaching staff at the start of the season.

In a statement on their website, Southampton said: “The club would like to thank Alex for his service and wish him well for the future.”

Rubén Sellés will continue to lead on set pieces for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side.
