SCOTT SELLARS has been promoted to Head of Academy by Wolves, replacing the outgoing Gareth Prosser.

The 53-year-old is a former Manchester City Academy Manager and joined Wolves in 2014 as Under-21s coach. He was promoted to the 23s and then, last summer, to the role of Head of Player Development.

Prosser, who had been with the club for a decade, has left to lead the independent auditing process for Academies, which is being run jointly by the Premier League, EFL and FA.

Wolves Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell, who led the recruitment process, said: “We are all delighted that Scott has this opportunity to further enhance the great work he has carried out at Wolves Academy since he first arrived in 2014.

“The level of applicants was very strong, but we felt Scott stood out as the best candidate and that it was right to give him this opportunity. Ultimately, we believe he is the best man for the job.

“During his time at the Academy, Scott has displayed the key Wolves values and showed real desire, in all the roles he has held, to produce and promote the highest quality of young players through the ranks at our club.

“We hope Scott will develop a programme that continues to place Wolves among the best academies in the country, as well as find new ways to improve further, all with the intention of supporting the club achieve success.”

Academy products Elliot Watt, Pedro Goncalves, Benny Ashley-Seal, Ryan Giles and Niall Ennis have all made first-team debuts during the current campaign.
