Schoenmaker leaves Palace following reshuffle

BRAZILIAN performance coach Alessandro Schoenmaker has left Crystal Palace following a backroom reshuffle by the south east London club.
Schoenmaker joined the club along with Frank de Boer in June 2017 and - unlike Ryland Morgans, Orlando Trustfull and Sammy Lee - survived when the Dutchman was sacked as manager in September.
However, the club has now decided not to renew Schoenmaker’s one-year contract for the 2018/19 season.
The fitness coach started his career at Utrecht in Holland and then linked up with Steve McClaren at FC Twente, remaining with him at Nottingham Forest, Wolfsburg, Derby County and Newcastle United.
The former England manager described Schoenmaker as "very good at what he does".
Schoenmaker also worked under De Boer during his brief spell in charge of Inter Milan and impressed enough for the Dutchman to take him to Palace.
Many of his duties will now be taken on by Chris Petrie, who has been promoted from rehab coach to lead S&C, and Michael Eglon, who has been promoted to S&C coach following 20 months as first-team sport scientist.
Meanwhile, Ed Richmond has been promoted to Head Physio by Palace following the departure of Chris Morgan to Arsenal earlier this summer.
