Robson promoted to West Ham first-team coach after turning down Wolves

MARK ROBSON has been appointed first-team coach at West Ham after turning down the chance to become one of Gary O’Neil’s assistants at Wolves.
Robson made 56 appearances for the Hammers in the 1990s before returning as their Under-23s Lead in November 2021.
O’Neil had wanted to make the 54-year-old one of his assistants at Molineux, but David Moyes then offered him the first-team coach job at West Ham. The Scot short on numbers in his backroom staff, having lost Mark Warburton and Paul Nevin at the end of last season.
Moyes in expected to add one further assistant to his staff, with an announcement due next week. TGG understands that this coach is Spanish.
With Robson leaving West Ham's Academy, Steve Potts has been promoted from U21s assistant to Head Coach, with Gerard Prenderville appointed as his assistant. He was previously number two with the U18s.
Kevin Keen and Lauris Coggin remain with the U18s, while Ricky Simons is now U16s Lead. So far O’Neil has brought in two assistant at Wolves - Tim Jenkins and Shaun Derry.
