Tiago Pinto: Described as a "world-class talent" when he joined Roma in November 2020

Tiago Pinto has been appointed to the new position of President of Football Operations by Bournemouth.

The 39-year-old has worked as General Manager at AS Roma from November 2020 to February this year and was Director of Professional Football at Benfica before that.

He will start his role at the Vitality Stadium next week and work with Chief Executive Neill Blake and Technical Director Simon Francis on “all football matters.”

Richard Hughes, who had been Bournemouth’s Sporting Director for the last decade, officially joined Liverpool at the end of the season.

Bournemouth Chairman and Owner Bill Foley said: “We’re excited to bring Tiago to the club. Neill and Simon have worked closely with him on a number of deals in recent seasons and have always been very impressed by him.

“Tiago arrives with great experience at some high-profile clubs already in his young career. Hiring somebody with his background reinforces the ambition that we have to succeed in the Premier League and in our multi-club project.”

Pinto added: “I’m very happy to be joining AFC Bournemouth during such an exciting time for the club. I would like to express my gratitude to Bill, Neill and Simon. The vision that they have laid out to me is something that I can’t wait to be a part of.

“I look forward to getting to work over the summer as we prepare for the new season.”

When Pinto joined Roma, he was described as a “world-class talent” by their Chairman Dan Friedkin.
