NIGEL PEARSON has retained Hayden Mullins and Graham Stack on his Watford coaching staff following their two games in caretaker charge of the team.

Mullins, who is the club’s Under-23 lead, took over for the games against Leicester and Crystal Palace following the sacking of Quique Sanchez Flores on December 1st.

Stack, the club’s Head of Academy Goalkeeping, stepped up to become first-team keeper coach alongside him.

Pearson, who took over on December 6th on a contract until the end of the season, said: "I'm not looking to change anything at the moment. Firstly, they [Mullins and Stack] did an exceptionally good job when the club needed them.

“They care, absolutely through and through; they bring positive contributions on the training field and I don't really think that having too much change is going to be, in our situation at the moment, particularly beneficial.”

Pearson said he did not envisage any further additions to his staff in the short term. “I'm not of the opinion that at the moment any more change is beneficial,” he said.

The 56-year-old added that he has “dialogue all the time" with the club’s executives. "My contact with our hierarchy, whether it be Filippo [Giraldi] or with the owner Gino [Pozzo], there's daily contact, it’s ongoing.”
