OXFORD UNITED have given a squad number to every player at the club, from first team to Under-9s, in an effort to foster a ‘one-club mentality’.

That means there are currently 171 squad numbers - and each will all be printed in the match day programme every week, along with the name of the incumbent.

Head Coach Karl Robinson said: “I work very closely with (Academy Manager) Dan Harris and the Academy staff. We have a ‘one club’ mentality and it’s important that the same core values run right through the club. It doesn’t matter how old you are, or which age group you are part of; you represent Oxford United and you wear the badge with pride.

“So this season every player has a squad number. The first team are from 1 to around 30, then the Under 23s, the under 18s, the under 16s and all the way down to the under nines.

“They will be in the programme each week and mums, dads and grandparents will pick that up and see their lad’s name in the squad list, which is brilliant.

“Those lads wearing the big numbers have something to aspire to: keep making those numbers smaller and smaller until you are wearing a number between 1 and 11.”

The full squad is below. First names of the Under-16s are not printed for data protection reasons.
