ADAM OWEN has begun work as Director of Performance and Assistant Manager of Polish Premier League side Lechia Gdansk.
The 36-year-old, who will continue as a Fitness Coach and Sports Scientist with the Welsh national team, is assisting former Poland international Piotr Nowak. The club has just completed a two-week training camp ahead of the new season.
“This is another step for me in my career path and offers the chance of further development,” said the Welshman, who was previously Head of Performance at Swiss side Servette and Football Science Consultant at the famous Benfica lab.
“Prior to signing, I had a lot of talks with President Adam Mandziara and Piotr Nowak and their vision of developing the whole club encouraged me to work here," he told TGG.
“I ended my playing career (with Wrexham) at a young age, so have spent a lot of time working as a coach. I believe the use of scientific knowledge can help optimise the training cycle, allow for greater progression for individual players and reduce the risk of injury.
“I’m delighted to have joined such a progressive club and am looking forward to the challenge and experience of another European league and culture.”
Lechia Gda?sk finished fourth in Poland’s top division, the Ekstraklasa, in 2016/17.
