NICK LEVETT has been appointed Head of Talent and Performance by UK Coaching after being made redundant by the Football Association.

Levett had been the FA's Talent ID Manager responsible for the pre-international ages since March 2015, although he first joined the organisation as Club Links Manager in January 2004. Via his social media channels and blog about talent ID, Levett has developed a large following within the game and received messages of goodwill from around the world when news of his FA departure broke.

Steve Brown, Talent ID Manager for the 18 to 20 group, has also been made redundant and secured a role as Head of Coaching role at a club, TGG understands.

Daniel Dodds has lost his job as Talent ID Manager for the 15 to 17 age group and is considering his options.

Dave Reddin, Head of Team Strategy and Performance at the FA, has overseen a radical overhaul of the department, leading to its title changing from Talent ID to Player Insights.

Its emphasis will now change from traditional scouting to an approach based on video, data and analytics. In October, TGG reported that Richard Allen, the former Head of Talent ID, had left ahead of the restructure to become Loughborough University’s first Director of Football.

Levett tweeted that “being made redundant was not on my Christmas list”. He added: “Being made redundant from an organisation you have worked really hard for since January 2004, developed a rhino hide from the abuse I’ve taken standing up for them. The last eight weeks have been an interesting experience to say the least.”

The FA declined to comment on the story when contacted by TGG.
