Mullins leaves Watford to become Colchester assistant

HAYDEN MULLINS has left Watford after four years to become assistant to Steve Ball at League Two Colchester United.
The former West Ham player was caretaker manager of the Hornets along with goalkeeper coach Graham Stack on two occasions last season - first when Quique Sanchez Flores was sacked and then when Nigel Pearson was dismissed near the end of the season.
Following the appointment of Vladimir Ivic as Head Coach last month, he moved back to his full-time role of Under-23 manager at the club.
However, he has now decided to work in first-team football again, alongside Ball, who was promoted from assistant to Head Coach by Colchester in July.
Watford CEO and chairman Scott Duxbury said: "Hayden represented the club with great dignity in difficult circumstances.
“His popularity among the first-team playing squad was typical of the respect he earned from all parts of the club during his time here. I’m delighted that he’s getting a coaching opportunity at first-team level, and we all wish him every success for the future.”
