MANCHESTER UNITED have appointed Lech Poznan’s Piotr Sadowski as their new Central European scout as they continue the massive overhaul of their recruitment department.

The Pole was Academy Operations Director at Poznan for two years, having previously been head of scouting in the UK for the Polish Football Association, responsible for finding players in the country with Polish roots.

United chief executive Ed Woodward has brought in more than 50 new scouts since making player recruitment one of his key priorities back in 2015. Executive headhunters Nolan Partners have helped with the drive.

Since then, Javier Ribalta has arrived from Juventus last season to become scouting manager, Seville’s Gerardo Guzman has been appointed to oversee Spain and Manchester City’s David Harrison has become Head of Academy Recruitment.

However, Radoslaw Kucharski returned to Legia Warsaw in June, just four months after being appointed as United's head of Eastern European scouting.

In a statement, Poznan thanked Sadowski for his work during the last two years.

“Thanks to Peter for over two years of co-operation," they said. "This was a period of important change in the academy which had a good effect and was successful.

“We wish him continued success and we are delighted that the experience he has gathered in Poznan has proved to be of great value to such a recognised brand in the football world as Manchester United.”

Sadowski tweeted: “A new chapter. It's time to begin.”
