LIVERPOOL have hired another physio from rivals Manchester City with Steve Lilley joining the Anfield club next month.
Lilley has been with City since September 2011, when he moved from Norwich City. In 2013 he was promoted to first-team duties and worked closely with Lee Nobes, who is now he Head Physio at Liverpool.
Landing Nobes from their rivals was seen as a coup for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Liverpool’s medical department has undergone significant changes in the last few months.
As well as hiring Nobes in November 2018, Arsenal’s Gary O’Driscoll has been recruited to replace Andy Massey as Head of Medical Services. Massey is leaving after six-and-a-half years to become Director of Medical at Fifa.
First-team physio Richie Partridge is exiting next month after nine seasons for a job with the Qatar national team, while TGG can reveal that German physio Christopher Rohrbeck is also set to leave at the end of the season after three years.
Meanwhile, QPR Academy doctor Sean Carmody will join in the summer on a one-year contract in a funded PhD position in conjunction with the University of Ghent.
