TOM LITTLE has left Preston after nine years to become Head of Performance at Championship rivals Sheffield United.

Little joined North End in June 2013 and is one of the most experienced practitioners in the game, having held Head of Performance or Head of Sport Science roles at Birmingham, Huddersfield, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.

Writing on LinkedIn, he said: “End of a journey. Loved my nine years at Preston North End. Grateful to all the managers for the privilege; colleagues for their support and friendship; and players for their hard work.

“Most proud of (assistant) Luke Hemmings, who is more like a son than work-mate. Beyond excited to join the incredible staff at Sheffield United.”

The Blades have not had a Head of Performance since the exit of Rafa Cristobal along with manager Slavisa Jokanovic last November.
