Ipswich 'surprise' at Kieron Dyer's sudden exit as U23s boss

IPSWICH TOWN Chief Executive Mark Ashton has expressed his ‘surprise’ at Kieron Dyer’s decision to quit his role as Under-23s coach at the club.
The former England international resigned from the role - which he had held since October 2020 - with immediate effect today.
Ashton said: “It has come as a surprise to us that Kieron wishes to stand down from his role as U23s manager. Kieron’s played his part in the development of some of our young players and we thank him for his efforts.
“I speak on behalf of everyone at the club in wishing Kieron all the very best with his future.”
Dyer stepped up to coach Town’s first team in the first few months of Paul Cook's reign last season, before doing so again with John McGreal in December.
McGreal has been working with Dyer with Town's U23s this season and is likely to take the team for the remainder of the season. Dyer departs with the U23s top of Professional Development League Two South table, having finished second last season.
