WOLVES Head of Performance and Medicine Rob Chakraverty has left the club after two years.

The former England national team doctor joined the club in May 2020 as Lead Doctor for the Academy before stepping up to become first-team doctor and then Head of Performance and Medicine.

In this new role, which he took on in June 2021, Chakraverty restructured a unified department and brought in several new staff.

At the time he said: “When we were looking at how we felt the structure could be improved, we felt that the identity of the performance and medical department at Wolves had been very dependent on the incumbent coach.

“As a performance and medicine department, we need to support the coaching team in the way they work, but we also need to create something that provides more consistency and has longevity. To achieve that, we put a plan together for what structure we needed and the staff we would need for this to be successful.”

Chakraverty also played a big role in helping the club through the Covid-19 pandemic, assisting former club doctor Matt Perry.

Chairman Jeff Shi said: “I’d like to thank Dr Rob for his efforts at the club. Rob joined Wolves at a difficult time during the pandemic, but his experience and knowledge helped us massively through a tough period.

“He’s also developed the medical team during his time here and worked hard to try and move things forward. On behalf of everyone at Wolves, I’d like to wish Rob the very best of luck for the future.”

Chakraverty added: “During my time at Wolves I have had the pleasure of working with so many good people whose work ethic, desire to improve and professionalism have been a credit to the club. I wish all of the staff and players the very best for the season and for their whole careers. I feel proud to have been part of that journey.”

Earlier this week Wolves announced that Matt Hobbs was replacing Scott Sellars as Sporting Director.
