DAN HARRIS has been appointed Academy Manager at Oxford United following three years as assistant boss of Seoul E-Land in South Korea’s K-League.
The 38-year-old, who is a former Head of Sport Science at Celtic, West Brom and Birmingham, said: “I am thrilled to be given this opportunity.
“Oxford has a fantastic tradition for bringing through the best local players and giving them a chance in the first team. The staff and infrastructure are already well established and I want to come in, build from those solid foundations and make sure that this club continues to thrive and enjoy success at the Academy for many years to come.”
Chairman Darryl Eales added: “We had a number of very strong candidates for the role but Dan is an outstanding individual with a very strong CV and a lot of really exciting ideas to help us continue to grow and improve the Academy.
“He will work alongside Les Taylor and the Academy coaches and following the recent appointment of Chris Hackett as PDP coach we believe this is a very exciting time for everyone involved in the youth development side of the club.”
Last September, Harris gave TGG a fascinating insight into working and living in South Korea.
