JON GREY has been promoted to Academy Manager by Swansea City following two years as their Head of Coaching.
The 44-year-old joined the Swans in 2012, became their Under-18s coach in 2016 and then Head of Coaching in the summer of 2019. He replaces Mark Allen, who was promoted to Sporting Director by the Championship outfit last month, as Academy Manager.
Meanwhile, Ryan Davies has been promoted from Assistant Head of Coaching to replace Grey.
“Jon is the perfect person to take on this role,” said Allen. “His association with Swansea City goes back to his formative years as a young scholar and professional, and he is passionate about the club.
“He forged himself a great career as a coach here and played a huge part in the development of many young players who have gone on to play in the first-team both here and at other clubs.
“This appointment is one that has come from within the club and I’m thoroughly looking forward to working closely with Jon moving forward.”
Grey added: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve worked at the club for a long time now and undertaken many different roles within that period.
“I’ve learnt a lot from Mark since he arrived here in January and he has been very supportive to everyone within the Academy. He has driven the standards up and I’m really looking forward to continuing that and keep striving towards the Academy developing players to play for the first-team at Swansea City and continuing the club’s tradition of giving young players opportunities.”
