ENGLAND C took on Wales C in Caernarfon last night with four coaches of South Asian background on the camp.
Alongside manager Paul Fairclough on the touchline were assistant Anwar Uddin and coaches Pav Singh, Ebrahim Seedat and Irfan Kawri.
England C are drawn from players plying their trade in the National League and below. Uddin, a West Ham Academy graduate and Uefa A Licence coach, previously both played under and assisted Fairclough at Barnet. He is the first England C assistant of South Asian heritage.
Meanwhile, Seedat and Kawri are part of the Football Association’s 2021/22 Mentee Development Programme, which aims to offer opportunities “to accelerate the development of coaches striving to break into the professional game.” Their time with England C was part of this programme, although it is hoped they will have further experience with the national set-up.
Seedat is manager of Balham FC and Kawri is the former Zambia national team assistant who has worked in various roles for clubs including QPR, Wigan, Bolton, Burton and Chorley. Singh is assistant manager at West Yorkshire side Liversedge and a full-time coach developer at The FA.
Wales C beat England C 4-0.
