JOSE MOURINHO has been sacked by Tottenham along with the four assistants who arrived with him at the club in November 2019 - assistant Joao Sacramento, goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos, fitness coach Carlos Lalin and tactical analyst Giovanni Cerra.
Spurs released a short statement announcing the news.
"Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club,” said chairman Daniel Levy. “Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.
“On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution."
Ryan Mason, who was promoted from Under-19s coach to Head of Development for the U17s to U23s in August 2020, is to take charge of the side for the rest of the season.
He will be joined by Chris Powell and Nigel Gibbs as Interim Assistant Head Coaches and Michel Vorm as Interim Goalkeeping Coach. Ledley King will continue in his role as First Team Assistant after being added to Mourinho’s staff last August.
Chairman Daniel Levy said: “We have great belief in this squad of talented players. We have a cup final and six Premier League games ahead of us and we shall now focus all our energies on achieving a strong finish to the season.”
There had been the promise of a new approach from Mourinho after he brought a new-look backroom staff with him to Spurs. Shortly before getting the job he had said: "My future staff is going to be different than my previous, because I think it is the time for a few changes."
Rui Faria and Silvino Louro, who had worked with him throughout his managerial career, were not included this time, while tactical analyst Ricardo Formosinho, another long-time ally, departed last July.
In their places came assistant Sacremento, 32, and goalkeeper coach Santos, who both arrived from Lille. Cerra, who worked with Mourinho at Chelsea and Manchester United, and Lalin, who had been with him at Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United, were both retained.
