Forest's Gillett appointed Premier League medical advisor

NOTTINGHAM FOREST Head of Medicine Mark Gillett has been appointed as the medical advisor to the Premier League.
The experienced Gillett, who will continue to work full-time for Forest, succeeds Wolves club doctor Matt Perry in the role.
Perry was the Premier League’s first ever medical advisor, but has had to step down following Wolves’ promotion to the top flight, as rules preclude any possible conflict of interest.
Gillett was appointed to the strategic and advisory role shortly before Christmas, following a recruitment process, and Premier League doctors were informed of the news last week.
He told TGG: “It’s an honour and I’m really excited to have this opportunity to be at the forefront of football medicine, which the Premier League is fully committed to.”
Gillett joined Forest in June 2018, having previously been at West Brom for more than eight years. He has previously worked as Chelsea’s first team doctor and as Head of Performance with British Basketball.
Perry had held the Premier League advisory role since August 2014. In 2016, he said: "At the Premier League it is more of a strategic and advisory role - I support the Premier League Doctors’ Group."
