Fitness Coach Will Tullett is leaving Chelsea after 21 years as the club continue to revamp their performance and medical departments.
Tullett joined the Blues in 2003 from the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain, where he was a rehab coach. His first job at Chelsea was the innovative one of Academy Movement Specialist, responsible for improving “the movement control and physical competency” of the club’s Under-9s to 21s.
He continued doing this for 13 years, while also working with the first team. In 2016, Tullett took the title of First Team Lead Sport Scientist and from 2019 was First Team Fitness Coach.
Chelsea’s Medical and Performance departments have undergone massive change under new owners Clearlake Capital. Bryce Cavanagh has come in from the Football Association as Director of Performance, Nick Chadd from Benfica as Head of Performance Services and Craig Roberts, previously of South Africa Rugby and AFC Bournemouth, as Head of Performance Medicine.
Rehab Physio Fearghal Kerin, who joined the club in January 2023 from Leinster Rugby, will be leaving the club in October to set up his own company, Kerin Performance.
Writing on LinkedIn, he said: “After a good bit of deliberation, I’ve decided to finish up in my current role in October. I’m still very excited for what’s still to come over the next couple of months in London, but then to experience something new, different but equally special next while still helping athletes within the sports rehabilitation space.”
